Goulburn Valley CLC

We stand up for the rights of rural and regional Victorians who are experiencing social and economic disadvantage.

Our team is based in Shepparton. We provide free legal information, advice and representation services to people across Northern and North East Victoria in a range of legal areas, including:

  • Family Violence
  • Child Protection
  • Family Law (parenting arrangements, property, separation and divorce)
  • Credit and debt
  • Consumer complaints
  • Minor criminal matters

We understand that legal problems don’t happen on their own, and are often connected to other health and social problems experienced by our clients. We work closely with other local services to ensure that clients receive the integrated support that they need.

We also provide legal resources, education and training to local service providers and community groups, to help people understand the law, stand up for their rights, and know where to get legal help when they need it.

We also fight to change laws and policies that are unfair. We work with our clients and their communities to raise the voice of rural and regional Victorians and to advocate for social justice, equality and inclusion for all.

Client Stories

Mei's Story

Mei had been working for a small business in regional Victoria for three years. This business had sponsored her on a regional working visa to come to Shepparton. Mei experienced bullying and discrimination from her employer, who would threaten to cancel her sponsorship and ‘send Mei home’ if she complained. Mei was also being underpaid. She was feeling stressed and anxious, suffering from poor mental health as a result of her treatment at work and feeling like she was trapped in the situation.
