Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre is a division of Loddon Campaspe CLC. It provides free legal assistance to people living in the Greater Shepparton, Mitchell, Strathbogie and Moira Shires. For contact details, please refer to their website.
In 2009 Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre and UnitingCare: Cutting Edge teamed up to establish a pilot community legal centre in Shepparton to meet the unmet legal needs of people living in the Greater Shepparton, Mitchell, Strathbogie and Moira shires. This pilot was funded by the Clayton Utz Foundation.
As well as delivering legal services on a shoestring, the pilot community legal centre documented unmet legal need in the region, delivered community legal education and campaigned for a permanent and properly resourced community legal centre.
The campaign was supported by a large number of local politicians, individuals and organisations. In mid-2012 the Victorian government provided funding for a permanent community legal centre.
Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre now employs three Solicitors and an Administration Worker, and is assisted by a team of local lawyers who volunteer their time and expertise.
