The Bendigo Family Violence Justice Partnership is an integrated service partnership between Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre (LCCLC) and the Centre for Non Violence (CNV).
The project aims to increase access to justice for people affected by family violence in our community, with a focus on women and children.
A lawyer from LCCLC is based at CNV three days per week, making it easier for family violence workers to refer clients to the lawyer for assistance with intervention orders and other related family law and child protection matters. Clients can speak to a lawyer in a safe setting, where they have access to the other supports that they and their children might need.
The lawyer also provides legal information and education to CNV staff, increasing their capacity to identify the legal issues experience by their clients, and to make timely referrals before the matter escalates.
This project is supported by a grant from the Frances and Howard Abbott Fund.
