The ADVOCACY AND RIGHTS CENTRE (Loddon Campaspe CLC is a program of the Advocacy and Rights Centre) invites you to its 2013 Report to Community.
Eviction in times of crisis
Giving tenants a voice
Listening to women’s experience of the law in family violence
The Advocacy and Rights Centre’s 2013 Report to Community is an opportunity for the organisation to speak about its achievements and to foreshadow the challenges faced by its two programs: Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre and Tenant Advocacy Support.
It is also an opportunity for us to engage with our community in a broader discussion around issues of human rights and social justice: the cornerstones of our service.
Our 2013 Guest Speaker is Chris Povey. Chris is a lawyer who has worked extensively in the area of housing rights and access to justice for people experiencing disadvantage. Chris was recently appointed Manager of the Mental Health and Disability Advocacy Program at Victoria Legal Aid. He has held previous positions as Manager and Principal Lawyer of the PILCH Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic and Principal Lawyer with the Tenants Union of Victoria. In 2010 Chris was awarded a Churchill Fellowship focussing on keeping vulnerable tenants housed.
Chris will talk about Eviction in times of crisis: housing rights and homelessness.
