Earlier this week we popped up to La Trobe Uni’s Bendigo campus to flog our wares to students at O Week’s Market Day.
It was a great chance to promote our free student legal service and it was a lot of fun chatting with students and some of the other presenters, including local candidates Lisa Chesters and Craig Bickley.
We first opened the service at the end of last year on a pilot basis, but with fantastic support from the Bendigo Student Association we’re back on campus this year every Tuesday from 10am-4pm. Students can find us at The Outpost (up the stairs behind the bookshop).
We provide students with free and confidential information on employment matters, welfare rights, family violence, fines, criminal matters, discrimination, tenancy problems, consumer matters and motor vehicle accidents. We also provide a Justice of the Peace service for students.
To make an appointment, please call our office on (03) 5444 4364 or 1800 639 121 (if calling from outside Bendigo).
While we were talking to students, two of our law student volunteers launched themselves on the crowd armed only with a small video and vox popped the masses, asking them what they knew about the service. Check out their video above.
