Our little office here in Bendigo has a small but dynamic Seniors Rights Victoria outpost, led by solicitor Tabitha O’Shea. SRV provides information, support, advice and education to help prevent elder abuse and safeguard the rights, dignity and independence of older people.
Earlier this year, SRV produced Assets for Care: a guide for lawyers to assist older clients at risk of financial abuse (see our May 2012 post for more information).
Now SRV has produced a free and handy 2013 legal diary for older people. . The diary opens to a double-page per week, with each week featuring a small Did you know? section with useful information and tips. Each month is introduced by a 2-4 page spread with relevant legal information.
Topics include: Wills, Future Planning, Pensions, Housing, Neighbourhood Issues, Consumer Issues, Families, Physical, Financial and Other Abuse, Sharing Assets with family, Independent Living, Supported Living andFunerals.
The diary is a wealth of information and includes links to relevant agencies providing free legal assistance for older Victorians.
The 2013 Diary is free and Loddon Campaspe CLC has a limited number of copies. If you would like a diary, pop into our office (see Xmas hours), email us or call our Reception on (03) 5444 4364 0r 1800 639 121 and ask them to save or mail you a copy.
